Rehearsals
We normally rehearse on a Monday evening during school term time.
Our rehearsal venue is the Lakes Christian Centre (formerly known as Bowness Methodist Church) situated on Lake Road in Bowness-on-Windermere. You'll find the church at the top of the hill near the Royalty Cinema, our doors are open and rehearsals run from 7.30pm to 9.00pm prompt.
A warm welcome awaits anyone who wants to listen to us rehearse. People passing by hear us sing and come to sit and listen, especially in the warmer, lighter months of the year when Bowness is a popular tourist attraction.
Open evenings and auditions
Auditions are held for choir membership usually on a Monday night before rehearsal. Anyone can audition to join the choir - as spaces allow - or can join our waiting list until a place in their section becomes available. We carefully balance the numbers in each section (tenor/bass, alto, soprano) in order to achieve the best sound. We also audition for soloists on a Monday evening depending on vacancies. Soloists are chosen from within the choir. Our next scheduled audition is late January or early February 2012
Auditions can sometimes be a bit scary but please don't be put off. We try to make our auditions relaxed and friendly occasions where potential choir members sing together in a small group, in a secluded room, in front of no more than three people.
Choir socials and events
Our choir members also get to enjoy social occasions with food and drink, "Choir's Got Talent" shows and other fun stuff, especially around Christmas time and in the Summer.
Choir socials are a great place to meet new friends and have some fun, and we almost always have a jolly good sing!
